GREEN BUILDING SOLUTIONS
There has been a tremendous push towards green building techniques and the reduction of our carbon footprint with the leadership in energy efficiency and design program (LEED). Evans Construction offers a range of concrete mixes to meet the needs of LEED projects with 20% fly ash mixes and high quantity 50% fly ash mixes aka Envirocrete. Fly ash is a recycled product that has cementitious characteristics and can be used to replace an amount of cement in a mix design. Cement requires a lot of energy to produce and it’s production emits a lot of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, thus if we replace some of it in a mix we can effectively reduce our carbon footprint. The fly ash will take longer to set up, and is a little more challenging for the finishers to deal with, but in the end the concrete will have the same strength.
